Have you ever had one of those days where you feel like it never got started? That was me today. I spent most of the afternoon procrastinating over this because I couldn’t think of a good subject. Finally, I decided to feature The Buckinghams, whom I’ve spoken of a number of times as being a band from Chicago in the mid- to late-’60’s whose sound, “rock with horns,” was the inspiration for Al Kooper to form Blood Sweat & Tears. When I think of summer in Chicago as a kid, The Buckinghams were a big part of the soundtrack. Here are five of their most-famous songs.
- Kind of a Drag
- Don’t You Care
- Hey Baby (They’re Playing Our Song)
- Mercy, Mercy, Mercy
- Susan
And that’s a very-belated Five For Friday for August 19, 2022.
I only knew the 2nd last one but not the others. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them and the one, I think it is the 3rd song, seemed quite suggestive with the woman groaning in the background.

I must have missed the woman groaning in the background. I’ll have to listen again and see what I hear. Gla you liked the playlist!

I remember all of these songs. Part of my life soundtrack as well.

They were big around the time you were in the Chicago area, as I recall.
