Composer, arranger, and orchestra leader Hugo Montenegro was born on this day in 1925. He wrote the scores for a number of movies (Viva Max!, The Ambushers, Charro!) and wrote themes and incidental music for TV shows such as I Dream Of Jeannie, The Partridge Family, and Here Come The Brides. His most popular record was his arrangement of Ennio Morricone’s The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, which reached #2 in the US, #3 in Canada, and topped the charts in the UK for several weeks in 1968.
This is a classic! It’s a really wonderful arrangement and it is definitely memorable.

It sounded good even through the little speaker of a transistor radio.
