Song of the Day: Hugo Montenegro, “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”

Composer, arranger, and orchestra leader Hugo Montenegro was born on this day in 1925. He wrote the scores for a number of movies (Viva Max!, The Ambushers, Charro!) and wrote themes and incidental music for TV shows such as I Dream Of Jeannie, The Partridge Family, and Here Come The Brides. His most popular record was his arrangement of Ennio Morricone’s The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, which reached #2 in the US, #3 in Canada, and topped the charts in the UK for several weeks in 1968.

  1. Hi John – another great song for a fun range of movies … perfect in the circumstances and Hugo Montenegro was most definitely a fun composer … cheers Hilary
