Monday's Music Moves Me 1 Minute

It’s a new month, it’s a new season, it’s a new guest conductor on Monday’s Music Moves Me! And your new conductor is none other than me!

Happy Labor Day (or Labour Day, depending on where you live). Traditionally, the first day of school was Wednesday after Labor Day, though more and more schools are opting to start well in advance of the holiday. I thought it would be good to take our annual trip into the world of back-to-school music. I’ve got sixteen (16) songs in the playlist, most of which are pretty closely tied to back-to-school. Some of the others have videos set in school, and still others are there because this list told me it was okay to add them. What. Ever. This playlist should work as embedded, but if you have to go to YouTube to play any of these, it’s right here.

  2. Eclectic list. How I love that Three Stooges song; it made your playlist all by itself. So did the Kinks song, and Charlie Brown, and, most of all, Maggie May. That one, I think it the ultimate going back to school/college song! Alana ramblinwitham

    1. The Stooges were much more than three slapstick comedians. They had been through vaudeville and did a little bit of everything. And of all the songs Rod Stewart has done, “Maggie May” is my favorite.

    I’m bee-bopping to you to your wonderful “back to school” song playlist. I like that you mixed the oldies, some are really old up with more recent pop tunes.   4. Quite the eclectic mix this week especially when Britney sings her sweet innocent song and Mariah screeches for that high C note. She does not sing it but screeches. Julie Andrews can sing it. Anyhoo, I loved listening to each one and lived the last one. He learned more French in 2 minutes than I did in all of my schooling.
