Radio station 6PM in Perth, Western Australia has gone through a few changes since it first went on the air in 1937. In 1990, they moved to 92.9 FM and called themselves “Hit 92.9,” then in December 2020 they became part of the Triple-M Network with a callsign of 6MMM.
Here is their Top Ten from September 5, 1984. In case it won’t play here for whatever reason, you can find the playlist here, but I have tested this for the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia, and all should be well.
- Wham! featuring George Michael, “Careless Whisper”
- Laura Branigan, “Self Control”
- Shakin’ Stevens, “A Love Worth Waiting For”
- Tina Turner, “What’s Love Got To Do With It”
- INXS, “Burn For You”
- Prince & The Revolution, “When Doves Cry”
- Bruce Springsteen, “Dancing In The Dark”
- Bronski Beat, “Smalltown Boy”
- Steve Perry, “Oh Sherrie”
- Dan Hartman, “I Can Dream About You”
That’s Top Ten Tuesday for September 6, 2022.
Ah this takes me back to middle school! Some sweet times! Thanks!!

Loved this set. I was entering University or already in it. Too many screwdrivers back then:). I hVe to say I loved hearing the Laurie Braniga song along with that next one that seemed to belong to a bygone Era. I also loved hearing Bronski Beat have not heard of these songs in ages. It was also the time of the music video.

I think I found the original videos for most of these songs. This was the big time for music videos and MTV was still showing them…
