Happy birthday to chanteuse Maria Muldaur, who was born on this day in 1943. “Midnight At The Oasis” was from her eponymous 1973 debut album. Released in 1974 as a single, it reached #6 on the Hot 100 and #21 in the UK. It was nominated for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 1975 Grammys.

As far as I know, that’s the only hit she had. She’s recorded some 20-odd albums, none of which have the appeal of her first except for diehard fans.
