Yesterday for Song Lyric Sunday, one of the prompts was “honey.” I got fixated on that and came up a list of ten “honey” songs, which I gathered into a playlist for your musical enjoyment.
- The Beatles, “A Taste Of Honey”
- Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass, “A Taste Of Honey”
- Carl Perkins, “Honey Don’t”
- Roger Miller, “Honey”
- Van Morrison, “Tupelo Honey”
- Larry Donn, “Honey-Bun”
- Jimmie Rodgers, “Honeycomb”
- The Fountainheads, “Dip Your Apple (Into The Honey)”
- Muddy Waters, “Honey Bee”
- Albert Collins, “Honey Hush”
And that’s Monday’s Music Moves Me for September 26, 2022.
Monday’s Music Moves Me is sponsored by Cathy, Alana, and Stacy, so be sure and visit them, where you can also find the Linky for the other participants.

My favourite is ABBA’s Honey, Honey (so when you get to part 2 😉 )

I so nearly chose Honey as the theme for my post this week and I’m so glad I didn’t. But, weirdly, I suddenly changed my mind on Sunday after doing a little (not much) research. Was I getting vibes from you? At any rate, you chose a number of songs I didn’t know, including the Fountainheads song. They are new to me. Thank you for finding them for me! Alana ramblinwitham

Fun topic for a playlist! The first one that came to mind for me was Bobby Goldsboro’s Honey – a real tear-jerker.

I have Roger Miller’s cover in the list. Hey, do you think Honey died of natural causes or did she commit suicide?

Oh, busted. I haven’t listened to your playlist yet. 😳 I always thought Honey had cancer, or something, but now that I’ve read the lyrics again, it could have been suicide. Sad either way.

Honey sounds to me like she’s dealing with serious depression, and sadly, in the ’60’s people were told to “snap out of it!” A lot of them self-medicated with booze or pills– or both, and that never has a good outcome.

There are a bunch that I left out, that being one of them. I’ll probably do a part 2, and 3, and…

John,
I find inspiration like this sometimes and I can’t let go of it. It’s a great way to pull together playlists for the off weeks on the dance floor. Often I find new, never before heard by me songs going down these rabbit holes which makes it all the more fun. I stumbled on the Beatles “Taste of Honey” before but honestly, I like Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass the best. Roger Miller “Honey” reminds me an awful lot like Glen Campbell’s “Gentle On My Mind”. Many of your song picks are first timers for me. “Honey Hush” is a great sound. I’m gonna have to check out more by Albert Collins.
I apologize for not saying thank you for being this month’s honorary co-host. You did a fab job with your themes and I’m sorry I was absent for much of it while on vacation but I hope to go back to listen to your picks.
Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

I’m glad you had a good vacation! Welcome back! I really need to do a better job of coming up with ideas for the off-weeks. I didn’t get the idea for this one until Sunday afternoon…

Wow, I did not realize “A Taste of Honey” had lyrics. And I loved the Fountainhead’s song for Rosh HaShanah

There were a bunch of versions out there. Unfortunately, most are made for kids, and YouTube doesn’t allow adding them to adult playlists. I’m happy there was one out there that I could use…
