Song of the Day: Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, “You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly”

Country music legend Loretta Lynn died too young (90) yesterday. I’d be here all day listing her achievements and awards, which you can see on Wikipedia. I chose one of the many duets she did with Conway Twitty, “You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly,” from their eighth collaborative LP, 1978’s Honky Tonk Heroes.

  1. I have to admit…I have heard a lot of her songs…but not this one! It seems like they did a lot of duets back then.

    1. They made ten albums together from 1971 to 1981, the first eight reaching the Top 10 in albums including 4 #1’s. They were really goof together: I think they won a couple of Grammys and a couple of CMA’s together.

      1. That is incredible when you think about it. That is domination.

For me the seventies was the golden era in country..although with bands like Alabama in the 80s…it was huge as well.

  2. She had the ability to write with such brutal honesty all women could relate to at a time when those stories were not being told. There will not likely be anyone like her again for decades to come. Rest in peace dear lady.
