Country chanteuse Susan Raye is 78 today. A protegée of Buck Owens, she did four joint albums with him in the early ’70’s and was a featured performer on Hee Haw. “L. A. International Airport” was the first of three Top 10 singles on the Country chart in 1971. It reached #9 in the US and #2 in Australia.
She has a nice voice and it was a nice song..not too country.

I like her voice, even on the real country stuff and the duets with Buck Owens.

John when I saw the title…a flag went off in my head. It probably has been 45 years or so since I heard this…thanks!

You’re welcome. I first heard it when K-Tel was selling a country album. It’s a great song. She did a few albums with Buck Owens, too…

I remember it on WSM AM radio in the seventies with my parents.

Ahhh… the memories… Susan Raye and Buck Owens were such a great singing partnership. Susan held her own with her singing, too.

I agree on all counts! They (individually and as a duet) were my kind of country…
