The October Holiday Week That Was

This edition of The Week That Was is brought to you by US Rubber, makers of Keds sneakers.

In Chicago, we called them gym shoes.

Happy Thanksgiving (if you live in Canada) or Columbus Day (if you live in the US) or Indigenous Peoples Day (also if you live in the US) tomorrow. I actually thought these weren’t until next week, which shows what I know.

It’s gotten quite a bit cooler here, at least that’s what Mary tells me. I will be getting out a week from this coming Wednesday, and already I’m nervous. Leaving the house is not something I do that often anymore…

Not much else of any great interest going on here, so let’s move on to

Thanks to:

And that’s it for this edition of The Week That Was.

  1. Our weather has been beautiful and I love it! I had to get an affidavit notarized last week which meant I had to get out in the real world. I got my first jury summons in my life at over 70 years old. I had to get an affidavit notarized for proof of my date of birth. All went well and I am off their list forever. Whew!

    1. You can do that? I have to remember that. Actually, my being handicapped probably earns me a dispensation. My mother-in-law received a summons to jury duty the day she died. The lady at the other end when I called to let them know was really nice…

      1. In the state of Georgia, if you are over 70, you can sign and affidavit and have it notarized and you will be forever exempt from jury duty. In your case, you would most likely need to show something from your doctor.
