Singer Tommy Edwards was born 100 years ago today. His most popular song, “It’s All In The Game,” reached #1 on the Hot 100 in 1958, the first time an African-American singer topped that chart.. The hit version was a re-recording of his 1951 version, which reached #18 in 1951.
Love this song ..so melodious.

This was one of my father’s favorite songs. I’m not sure whose version he used to listen to most, but it sounded a lot like this one.

Great old song. I have a version sung by Ricky Nelson on my iTunes playlist.

It’s a great song, isn’t it? The original version started with an orchestral flourish. I like this one better, where it just starts off with his voice.

100 years ago! Having trouble wrapping my head around that one! I love this song. It was one of the first songs I used to sing while standing in front of my mirror with a hairbrush as my mic. I progressed to singing it in the shower; still do but don’t tell anyone. Just a really nice song. Thanks for the memories, John.

Robert Parker’s voice is so good here. Not the best singer, maybe, but he really puts the right emotion behind it.

Yep, and the funny thing is I haven’t heard many covers of this song. It’s his signature piece.
