When you go food shopping, do you go with a list or amble down the aisles putting things in your basket or cart that you fancy or think you need? When I did the shopping, Mary and I came up with a list, which I then took to the store and followed faithfully. Now that Mary does the shopping, she has a general idea what she wants to get and walks through the store pulling things off the shelf.

When the temperatures drop for the colder months, is there a specific date you put the heating on or do you flick the switch when you start to feel cold? We turn on the heat when it starts getting cold at night, which is usually after October 1. We run into the sitution where we start the day with the heat on and end it with the air conditioning.

Keeping with the cold theme, do you prefer a hot water bottle or an electric blanket at night? When we had more cats, I used to sleep with them for warmth. (Devon Rexes are particularly good for heat, because they’re like little furnaces). Now, we use neither. We had an electric blanket years ago, with two controls, one for Mary’s side, one for mine. One night, no matter how low I’d set the temperature, I was still getting hot. We got up the next morning and Mary was complaining that she was cold all night. Turns out we had managed to flip the blanket over such that my controller controlled her side and vice versa. We had a laugh about that…

How do you feel about log burners? Do you think they are messy or cosy? I’m not exactly sure what a “log burner” is. However, we have a fireplace that we rarely use. To give you some idea, we will have lived here 35 years on November 1, and I can count the number of times we’ve had a fire in it on two hands.

When was the last time you laughed out loud? Today, at this:

“Peepo”? “Dumples”? I love it!

Oh my we have a PoPo but Peepo & Dumples is the best. Too funny 🙂

I thought those names were hilarious, and you for sure that there are a couple of old folks with those nicknames somewhere…

Same here about switching from the heater to the A/C all in one day. It’s already happened this year.
Haha it is funny what grand-kids come up with for calling us. Somehow I came to be Bop! I like it. 🙂

We had the heat on all night, we’ll probably need the AC at some point today… Life in the south… I like Bop, too!

I always make a list, never go when I am hungry and make a meal plan so I know what I will be making for the week. We put on the heat when we think we need it. Actually most of October, we have had the heat off. I use neither a hot water bottle or an electric blanket. We just layer and I might wear socks. I love real wood and don’t care about the mess. I laughed out loud watching Cheers last night. I think these older shows were much funnier back in the day.

A lot of modern comedies are written by a committee of 10 or 15 writers where the old shows had one, maybe two. Remember the old joke, “a giraffe is an elephant designed by committee”?

Peepo and Dumples! 🤣 We have a log-burning fireplace and use it frequently in colder weather.
