Song of the Day: Anita Kerr Singers, “The Fool On The Hill”

The website I use to choose which songs I’m going to use every day, On This Day, made a boo-boo when listing Anita Kerr’s date of birth, saying it was October 31 rather than October 13. I’m going to go ahead and use her for today, anyway. Anita was a singer, arranger, composer, conductor, pianist, and music producer who was born October 13, 1927. She led several groups called The Anita Kerr Singers, based in Nashville, Los Angeles, and Europe. Among other things, she did the jingles for WLS radio in Chicago when it first switched to a Top 40 station in 1960. This performance of "The Fool On The Hill" was taped in 1974 for a Dutch program, World Of Jazz.

Anita passed away on October 10 of this year, three days shy of her 95th birthday.

She lived a nice long life. So many singers and musicians seemed to have died this year.
