Trumpeter, bandleader, composer, and arranger Billy May was born on this day in 1916. He composed film and TV music for a number of shows, including Naked City, the "Batgirl" theme for Batman, The Mod Squad, and The Green Hornet. His 1952 recording of "Charmaine" peaked at #17.
