WETB in Johnson City, Tennessee is currently broadcasting a Christian format. They were a Top 40 station in the ’60’s and ’70’s before switching to “beautiful music” in the early 1980’s. Here is their Top Ten from 51 years ago yesterday.
- Cat Stevens, “Peace Train”
- The Grass Roots, “Two Divided By Love”
- Sonny & Cher, “All I Ever Need Is You”
- Michael Jackson, “Got To Be There”
- The Chi-Lites, “Have You Seen Her”
- The Free Movement, “I’ve Found Someone Of My Own”
- John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band, “Imagine”
- Bread, “Baby I’m-a Want You”
- Cher, “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves”
- Isaac Hayes, “Theme From Shaft“
And that’s Top Ten Tuesday for November 15, 2022.
I know more on this list than I do with charts in the past 20 years.

I know what you mean. After about 1995, my knowledge of popular music drops like a rock.

That whole soundtrack was excellent. Hayes wrote all the music for it.

I do love that Cat Stevens! Met him out in Hampton Bays NY a century ago. Peaceful, charming, delightful person.

Love these, especially #5. I guess that was a one-hit wonder?

They had another record, “The Harder I Try (The Bluer I Get), that reached #6 on the Adult Contemporary chart, but it only got to #50 on the Hot 100 and #49 on the R&B chart, so yeah, one hit wonder. Do you recognize the movie, or the woman with John Cusack?

Serendipity! Kate Beckinsdale. Wonderful ❤️
Don’t remember the song though…

Wow, John. 10 for 10 on this one, and I probably wouldn’t change the station if any of them came on today. Certainly not Peace Train and Imagine.
