
Rockabilly star Dorsey Burnette was born on this day in 1932. He founded the Rock & Roll Trio with his younger brother Johnny and a friend named Paul Burlison in 1952, which was influential in the later development of rock. “The Big Rock Candy Mountain” was originally recorded by Harry McClintock in 1928. Dorsey’s recording in 1960 reached #2 on the Billboard “Bubbling Under” chart.
I remember this song. I lived it when I was a kid.

Not exactly a great example of rockabilly, but neither was Johnny’s “You’re sixteen.”

very true, I guess he was moving away from that sound as were many. Another great loss at a young age.
