Five For Friday: Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman

Jerome Felder, better known as Doc Pomus, and Mort Shuman wrote songs for lots of different artists, and both men wrote with other songwriters. A list of their songs, both as a team, with other songwriters, and individually, can be found here. Here is a more or less representative sample.

  1. The Mystics, "Hushabye"
  2. Elvis Presley, "Little Siser"
  3. Andy Williams, "Can’t Get Used To Losing You"
  4. Terry Stafford, "Suspicion"
  5. Jay & The Americans, "This Magic Moment"

    1. They were. All of the songwriters I’ve featured have added so much to music, not just here but all over the world. Everyone knows the artist, not many know the songwriters unless they’re also the artist (e.g Lennon-McCartney, Jagger-Richards).

    1. I’m surprised at the range of musical styles their ssongs have been done in. You think “Oh, they only write rock songs,” but they also wrote easy listening, country, and rhythm & blues. That’s talent.
