Song of the Day: Kenny Loggins, “Celebrate Me Home”

Happy 75th birthday to singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins. “Celebrate Me Home” is the title track from his 1977 solo debut album. The album was, in the words of Wikipedia, “a slight move away from the folk-rock leanings of his previous recordings towards a more polished, soft rock sound.” It was produced by Phil Ramone and smooth jazz keyboardist Bob James.

  1. Name rang a bell, but couldn’t think of a single……. then looked him up. I saw Footloose and Top Gun and knew the song What a Fool Believes by Michael McDonald which he co-wrote. Liked this one too.

    1. I liked him a lot when he and Jim Messina were working together, and he went from that to what he’s doing now, and I like him more. The music he’s written for movies is fantastic.

      1. In between careers, I worked the 10:00 pm to 6:00 am shift at a 50,000-watt station in South Bend Indiana. The playlist had a lot of Loggins and Messina rotations. The station had a less talk more music Lite rock format. When you mentioned Messina my brain went immediately to “The New Lite 100 WYEZ. More music, less talk,” break line. Good times.
