Italian singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno was born on this day in 1928. He cowrote “*Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu*,” better known as “*Volare*,” with Franco Migliacci and recorded it in 1958. It spent five nonconsecutive weeks at #1 on the *Billboard* Hot 100 in August and September 1958 and was the #1 record for the year. In the first annual Grammy Awards, held in 1959, it won both Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It won the Sanremo Song Contest and came in third out of ten songs in the 1958 Eurovision Song Contest. It’s been covered by many singers, including Jerry Vale, Dean Martin, and The Gipsy Kings.
High School favorite here. We all felt so continental when we mimicked the words and sang along. I just loaded Monteray 16.6.2 last night

Another one from my youth. Still have it on my iTunes (can’t get used to saying Apple Music) sung by Dean Martin.

I still call it iTunes, too. Dino did a great cover of it.
Off-topic: what release of MacOS are you on?

I’m on Monterey.12.6.1 on my big computer. My laptop is too old to progress that far so I think it’s still in Big Sur. I see that Ventura is out but I am cautious upgrading. I have to make sure my transcription software will still be compatible and sometimes it takes a while. Made a big mistake of upgrading once and couldn’t do my work because the programs weren’t speaking to each other. Had to have a tech friend of my son’s come over and help me backtrack it. Won’t make that mistake again!
