Song of the Day: Faouzia, “Habibi (My Love)” #LoIsInDaBl23

I had absolutely no idea who is an artist who became known in 2022 or 2023, as today’s prompt requires, so I Ducked it and found this page, which speaks of a young woman named Faouzia. That page says of her:

Being compared to mega artists like Adele might have led some artists to relax and stop producing their best, but not Faouzia Ouihya. The Moroccan-Canadian has more than 2 million subscribers, with popular songs such as “Tears Of Gold” and “Puppet.” In addition, she has worked with John Legend, which simply showed the world she isn’t a talent to be ignored. Her favorite musical instruments are the piano, violin, and guitar.

Her artist page on YouTube tells us:

Faouzia is a 22-year-old Morocco-born force of nature from Carman, Manitoba. Fluent in three languages (French, Arabic, English), Faouzia is a compelling vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Her lyricism is powerful and inspiring with songs about female empowerment and overcoming darkness, it is obvious that she has made it her mission to stop all listeners in their tracks. Her sound has been described as “cinematic pop with alternative and rhythmic elements.”

Here is Faouzia’s "Habibi (My Love)."

  1. This is…catchy. I like the rhythm and the tune. I didn’t listen that closely to the lyrics, though. Also, I didn’t expect to like it, and I do. (I’m a grouch when it comes to whatever the newest music is.)
