WTSN in Dover, New Hampshire went on the air in 1956 as a Top 40 station. At some point (Wikipedia doesn’t say when), they switched to a News/Talk format. TSN stands for Twin States Network, signifying that they serve the Seacoast region of New Hampshire and southern Maine. They’re members of the Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins radio networks, and have a translator station, W251CF, at 98.1 FM. They identify themselves as "News Talk 98.1 WTSN." Here is their Top Ten from February 24, 1963. I can honestly say that, until yesterday afternoon, I hadn’t heard #10 through #4.
- Little Eva, “Let’s Turkey Trot”
- Neil Sedaka, “Alice In Wonderland”
- The Orlons, “South Street”
- Rick Nelson, “That’s All”
- Johnny Mathis, “What Will Mary Say”
- The Tornadoes, “Ridin’ The Wind”
- Richard Chamberlain, “All I Have To Do Is Dream”
- Skeeter Davis, “End Of The World”
- Roy Orbison, “In Dreams”
- The Four Seasons, “Walk Like A Man”
And that’s Top Ten Tuesday for February 21, 2023.
I think I only know three of these, John. I’m only sure about #1.

I remembered four, though I’m hazy on a couple of them. I was really just starting to get into music then.

I’m familiar with the top 3 and didn’t know Richard Chamberlain was a singer!!

I don’t think his career as a singer was all that long. It was quite the thing back then for young TV stars to cut a record or two.

I remember him in The Towering Inferno and being responsible for the installation of sub standard wiring. He met a suitable burning end!

Did you get “Dr. Kildare” over there? He was the star of the show. I think he was also in the adaptation of “The Thorn Birds.”

Yes to both. I watched The Thorn Birds, and also read the book (which was better IMO). I remember him as Dr Kildare, but not exact episodes. He was also Prince Charming in The Slipper and the Rose I think.

I just remember the show “Dr. Kildare,” but I don’t think we watched it (or it was on after we went to bed).

I remember Peyton Place which was on around the same time I think with ‘Dr Michael Rossi’ and ‘Constance MacKenzie’.

I think that’s what Mom watched. Not sure what Dad was doing. Probably reading a book….

I have heard all of them but have to say most were top picks for twenty seconds or so. South Street was a good sing-along.

I do remember South Street, and yes, it is a good singalong. Weird that Ihadn’t heard a lot of these before yesterday…

A great selection of oldies. I love music from the sixties.

This week was particularly excellent, I think.
