Bee wants a "love song for flora and fauna." I thought of this beautiful song, a standard written in 1936 by Nat Simon and Buddy Bernier, based on the Cuban folk song "La Canción de Árbol" ("The Song Of The Tree"). Jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal did the definitive instrumental version of it, and there have been many vocal covers, including this one by Frank Sinatra. From 1944, "Poinciana."

This is a lovely song, and so “Frank”.

I love the intro and the bobbysoxers sound just like their own kids years later with the Beatles.

I think Mom missed that. She was only 12 when this song came out.

Frank. That’s all you need to say.

I always say that no one is better at the standards than Frank and Ella.

Wasn’t “Your Hit Parade” a weekly radio program? Do you know how many years it was on the radio?

It was. Wikipedia tells me that the radio show lasted from 1935 to 1953 and it was on TV from 1950 to 1959. Sponsored by Lucky Strike cigarettes…
