Well this us a nice sage brush tune. I picture this tune in one of the many Oaters that were filmed by poverty studios

San Antonio Rose is the first song I learned to play on the harmonica. I associate Slim Whitman singing this song over Bob Wills. I think that was because we had Slim Whitman (vinyl) records and not Bob Wills records.

I can hear the influence on Buck Owens.

Good song I remember well. If memory serves me right, my husband and I went to see them play at a dance somewhere in town here many years ago. 🙂

Could any recording be more perfect for the AM radios of the day with the signal blasting through distant thunderstorms? Bob Wills got great mileage out the song for years.
