Happy 76th birthday to Reginald Kenneth Dwight, better known as pianist, singer and songwriter Elton John. This is one of my favorite songs of his, "Levon," from the 1971 album Madman Across The Water. Released at the end of 1971, it reached #24 on the Hot 100 and #6 on the Canadian RPM Hot Singles chart in 1972.
He’s got so many great songs…sans Disney. I love “Benny and the Jets”

I think most of his songs were written with Bernie Taupin, but his songs with Disney were not.I think there’s a lesson there for us all…

Mine, too. It’s not one of his more upbeat songs , which I think shows him at his best.

It was. Half of that was Bernie Taupin, who’s one of the better lyricists. They were a good team.
