Song of the Day: Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”

Songwriter and record producer Leon Huff, who with Kenny Gamble was instrumental in defining the Philadelphia Soul sound in the 1970’s, celebrates his 81st birthday today. Gamble and Huff wrote "If You Don’t Know Me By Now" for Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and produced their record in 1972. It reached #3 on the Hot 100 and #1 on the R&B chart that year and has been covered by Patti LaBelle and Simply Red since then.
