Song of the Day: Dickie Goodman, “Batman and His Grandmother”

Record producer and parodist Dickie Goodman was born on this day in 1934. He invented and used the technique known as the break-in, where a character will ask a question and the response will come in a brief segment from a popular record. I had the single, "Batman and His Gandmother," which was released in 1966.

  1. Back then I was a Batman fanatic. I would buy anything I could get about Batman. At first this record didn’t register with my memory, but then I listened. Yeah, I would have liked it back in my young teen days, but it’s a weird anomaly to my ears now. What a weird artifact of the sixties.
