Happy 78th birthday to Swedish guitarist Georg Wadenius, who played with Blood Sweat & Tears in the early-to-mid 1970’s. Before joining BS&T he was responsible for starting two Swedish supergroups, Made in Sweden and Solar Plexus. He played wih the Saturday Night Live Band from 1979 to 1985. He’s also worked with Steely Dan, Dr. John, Diana Ross, and countless others.
Ooooooooo He worked with some of the greats! Fantastic! Hubby’s ear stood up to this one. I sure wish he’d pick up the guitar again! He was so good before. Have a great weekend John!!!!

I knew his work from the BS&T days. At the end of their “New Blood” album, he did a solo on Herbie Hancock’s “Maiden Voyage” where he did the scat-singing with the guitar solo like here. To have that kind of connection with the guitar, the voice, and the ear is pretty special. George Benson and Toots Thielemans are the only other two guys I’ve heard do it that well.

Love Benson. Gotta catch up on Toots.

Toots is interesting. He’s better known for playing the harmonica, but he plays guitar and, rather than sing along, he whistles along.
