Song of the Day: Scatman Crothers, “September Song”

Singer, actor, and musician Benjamin "Scatman" Crothers was born on this day in 1910. He was on TV a lot in the ’70’s on shows like Chico And The Man and Sanford and Son and was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. "September Song" is from his 1998 (posthumous) album Oh Yeah!

    1. Why did you think they called him Scatman? He was a fantastic scat singer (not as good as Ella, but then, who is?) and I think he played tenor guitar. And he was a great actor, and a genuinely funny guy. I used to see him on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson.
